Education Construction
High School Addition and Renovation
Fort Madison, IowaThe 17,000 s.f. Fort Madison High School Addition and Renovation consisted of a conventional structural steel and masonry building with terrazzo flooring and brick veneer to match the existing building. The project included new administration offices, faculty lounge, restrooms, nutrition laboratory, clothing laboratory, and a 2D/3D art classroom with a darkroom and firing kiln.
Construction occurred while school was in session. As a result, the project required extra coordination between Carl A. Nelson & Co and school staff. In addition, Carl A. Nelson & Co. implemented extra safety measures to isolate the construction activities from the educational activities. Carl A. Nelson & Co. completed the project without incident.
Fort Madison Community School District’s Director of Operations said the following, “Project communication with all district personnel during the entire construction process was exceptional. Building administrators were always kept in the communication loop to prevent any potential problems. Workmanship and professionalism was also excellent on this project. Taxpayers of the Fort Madison Community School District can be proud of this new addition to our district. I would not hesitate to recommend Carl Nelson Company for any of your projects.” Kevin Moon, 2009.
